An exciting year underway

Happy New Year! We are really very focused on 2015 being a successful year for MBS as we look to support our existing client network, gain the trust of new clients and provide added functionality and efficiency with our developing app range to compliment our GoGet solution.

An early milestone for 2015 will be the South Taranaki District Council going live with MBS GoGet for their building inspection team. We are in the final stages of integration and installation there, and following some staff training we will have another New Zealand Local Authority up and using the system.

After the South Taranaki District Council go live date, we will then be installing the GoGet solution into the following authorities:-

  1. Stratford District Council
  2. Upper Hutt District Council
  3. Kapiti Coast District Council
  4. Wairoa District Council

Negotiations are progressing with three other councils and hope to be able to announce these shortly.

MDC Building Services get mobile

MDC Goes mobile

MDC building officer Tony Kellerman uses GoGet while carrying out a framing inspection at a building site. The mobile system allows building officers provide a high standard of service, with information updated, accessed and printed on building sites.

Tradespeople in the Manawatu District are receiving an increased level of service during on-site building inspections thanks to GoGet. Manawatu District Council (MDC) building inspectors carry a specialised electronic tablet featuring GoGet, a council consent software developed by a Feilding-based business Master Business Systems (MBS). GoGet does away with paperwork allowing building officers to record notes, write reports, take photos, while having access to all necessary information they need relating to the job.

MDC carries out approximately 300 building inspections each month. The GoGet system has potential to save around 75 hours per month in council staff time, as it eliminates the need for hard copy checklists. The checklists and photographs taken on the tablet are automatically downloaded to the relevant electronic building consent file and can generate emails, and will list future events and reports needed.

Mobile printers in inspector’s vehicles means relevant information relating to the inspection is given to the tradesperson on site, and they have the ability to get on with their work fully informed.

The GoGet software has been used by MDC for just over 12 months. Business liaison manager Karel Boakes said they are providing many benefits for both inspectors and tradespeople. “We no longer require manual inputting of building officer’s notes which saves time, and tradespeople are kept up to date with vital information they require for their project.”

Building Officers are alerted to what safety gear is required at the site and information regarding any previous inspections. Information outside Council records such as Building Codes and New Zealand Standards is also accessible.

Master Business Systems Ltd (MBS) is a local Feilding business founded by Laurence Bevan. They provide GoGet software to over 15 councils and are working on releasing processes that assists with liquor licensing, food premises and dog inspections.

New Plymouth District moves to electronic inspections

NPDC_OfficeGoGet Scheduler and GoGet Mobile are now the tools of trade in the New Plymouth district.

With the installation of GoGet Scheduler, the people can book their building inspections with Council’s Call Centre staff and be advised of the time of the inspection when they book. Staff in the Building Administration area are using the functionality within GoGet Scheduler to ensure optimum efficiency of the inspection team.

The building inspectors are using tablet devices coupled with GoGet Mobile software to complete their on-site inspections. Whilst they are still taking some paperwork out on site – during the transition phase – paper will soon be a thing of the past. All the information they need relating to the building consent will be on their tablets.

Builders are receiving their site notices electronically where they have email access. The data resulting from the on-site building inspections is synchronised  by a click of a button with Council’s TechnologyOne system and Council’s file system.

The staff involved in the training and implementation had a wonderful attitude towards using GoGet and were a fantastic group with which to work. Members of the MBS team will be back to do a follow up and see how it is all going in about a month’s time.
